As a therapeutic counsellor my grounding is based in the Person Centred theories of Carl Rogers. However, I try to work intuitively, collaboratively and genuinely with each client and bring to the session what they need. My background has always been in the creative industries but this has been the most rewarding & challenging journey to date.
My aims, when working with clients at The Unfolding Therapy, are multifaceted and centered around fostering a supportive and transformative therapeutic experience. Firstly, establishing a trusting and empathetic relationship is paramount. Creating a safe space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions is foundational to the counselling process. My goal is to cultivate an atmosphere of openness and acceptance, allowing clients to explore their concerns without fear of judgment.
Although I work with many common problems in my counselling practice I have a special interest in autism and working with autistic clients. I approach working with all my autistic clients with a deep sense of understanding and empathy. Whether they are formally diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or simply exploring their experiences, I create a safe and affirming space where they can explore their unique perspectives and challenges. Drawing from my own lived experiences of being autistic myself and recognising it in my son, I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet each client's specific needs and goals.
I strive to empower my clients to embrace their neurodivergence and navigate the world with confidence. Through a combination of psychoeducation, skill-building exercises, and compassionate listening, I help them develop strategies for self-advocacy, communication, and emotional regulation. By fostering a sense of acceptance and belonging, I aim to cultivate a therapeutic alliance grounded in trust and mutual respect, guiding my clients toward greater self-awareness and personal growth. Together, we work towards creating meaningful and fulfilling lives that honor their unique strengths and identities within the context of autism.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
