Below you'll find a list of links and information to various other organisations that you can seek help from. It will be continuously updated as I become aware of more organisations and charities.

CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE & VULNERABLE ADULTS


Ncompass:

Focus: Ncompass is a North West UK-based organisation that provides a range of services that support vulnerable adults and young people alike. They offer carers' and advocacy services as well as counselling and wellbeing services. Their sister site, The Butterfly and the Phoenix Project, offers counselling for under 18's.

The Butterfly and Phoenix Project:

Who: 11-18

Focus: The Butterfly and Phoenix Project are a team of counsellors supporting young people aged 11-18 in various areas across Lancashire. As part of n-compass, they are a trusted service with over 10 years of experience in support and advice.

Key Unlocking Futures:

Who: 4-18 and adults, dependent on the service required

Focus: Key Unlocking Futures is a Lancashire-based charity that supports survivors of domestic abuse, offering counselling, mentoring, and empowerment programs to help individuals rebuild their lives whilst also supporting families with children on the spectrum.

Compass Bloom:

Who: 5-18

Focus: Compass Bloom is the Central & West Lancashire division of the UK-based organisation Compass. They provide mental health support and resources for individuals and families, with a focus on early intervention and prevention.

NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children):

Who: Under 19

Focus: The NSPCC works to prevent child abuse and provides support for children and families in the UK.

Childline:

Focus: Childline is a confidential helpline for children and young people in the UK. It provides support and counseling on a wide range of issues, including abuse, bullying, mental health, and relationships.

Services: Childline offers a telephone helpline, online chat, and email support, allowing children and young people to reach out for help 24/7.

YoungMinds:

Who: Young people and parents

Focus: YoungMinds is a UK-based organisation dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of young people.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS):

Who: Under 19

Focus: CAMHS provides mental health services for children and young people in many countries, offering assessment and support.

Availability: Services may vary by country and region.


Kooth:

Who: 11-25

Focus: Kooth provides online mental health and well-being support for young people, including counselling services.



SELF HARM / SUICIDE


National Self-Harm Network (NSHN):

Focus: NSHN is a UK charity that provides support and resources for individuals who self-harm. They offer online forums, information, and peer support to help individuals cope with self-harm and seek alternative coping strategies.


LifeSIGNS:

Who: All ages

Focus: LifeSIGNS is a UK-based charity that provides support, information, and resources for individuals who self-harm. They aim to reduce stigma, raise awareness, and promote understanding of self-harm.

Selfharm UK:

Who: 10-17

Focus: Selfharm UK is a project by Youthscape, offering support, information, and resources for young people who self-harm. They provide online resources, workshops, and guidance for individuals, parents, and professionals.

Harmless:

Who: All ages

Focus: Harmless is a UK charity that provides support, information, and training for individuals who self-harm, as well as their families and professionals. They offer therapy, support groups, and education to help individuals find alternative coping strategies.

Togetherall:

Who: 16+

Focus: Togetherall is an online mental health community where individuals can seek support, connect with others, and access resources for a wide range of mental health issues, including self-harm.

Papyrus:

Who: Under 35

Focus: Papyrus provides support for young people at risk of suicide and those who are concerned about a young person.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE


Preston Domestic Violence Services:

Focus: Preston Domestic Violence Services is the first organisation in Preston which exists solely to support adults and children experiencing (or having experienced) Domestic Violence.



WOMEN


Chorley Women's Centre:

Focus: Chorley Women's Centre is a North West UK charity offering a range of support services for women, including counselling, advocacy, and empowerment programs.


Lancashire Women

Focus: Lancashire Women is a Lancashire based charity which exists to support as many women as they can to make positive change in their lives.


Women's Aid:

Focus: Women's Aid is a UK charity providing support and resources for women and children experiencing domestic violence or abuse. They offer refuge services, advice, and advocacy.

MEN


Andy's Man Club:

Focus: Andy's Man Club is a support group specifically for men, aiming to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for them to talk about their mental health and emotional well-being. It often operates through local groups or clubs where men can meet and share their experiences.

Men's Advice Line:

Focus: The Men's Advice Line offers support and advice for male victims of domestic violence or abuse in the UK. They provide confidential helpline services and information.


CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably):

Focus: CALM is dedicated to preventing male suicide and provides support for men in the UK who may be struggling with mental health issues.

MENTAL HEALTH


Cedar House:

Who: 18 and over

Focus: Cedar House is a mental health counselling charity based on a quiet side street in the City Centre of Preston, Lancashire. It provides support for adults experiencing Mental Health challenges.


Haven:

Who: 16 and over

Focus: The Haven is a welcoming and non-judgemental place for individuals struggling socially and emotionally with life challenges or who are in crisis.

Listening Ear:

Who: 16 and over

Focus: Listening Ear is a UK-based charity providing various support services, including counselling and emotional support as well as domestic abuse and suicide.

Maundy Relief:

Who: 11 +

Focus: Maundy Relief an award-winning charity based in Accrington, Lancashire, responding to the needs of the people in the community. Dealing with race, religion, gender, sexuality, they are there to help for as long as it takes and offers a range of services including food, accommodation, mental and physical health services and benefit advice. Their intention is to bring about sustainable change to those experiencing social exclusion, financial hardship and ill health, and also to support those individuals who lead chaotic and chronically unstable lives, for whom radical change in lifestyle is not currently possible.

Mind:

Focus: Mind is a mental health charity in the UK that offers a wide range of support and resources for individuals dealing with mental health challenges.

Who: under 25

Focus: The Mix is a UK-based charity providing support for young people on a range of issues, including mental health, relationships, and well-being.

Side by Side (Mind):

Focus: Side by Side is an online community run by Mind (a mental health charity in the UK) where people can share and support each other.


Peer Talk:

Focus: Peer Talk is a charity that facilitates peer support groups for people experiencing depression and related illnesses.

Focus: SANE is a UK mental health charity offering emotional support, information, and guidance to anyone affected by mental illness, as well as carers and families.

IN CRISIS


Samaritans:

Focus: Samaritans is a well-known international organisation that provides emotional support to people in crisis, including those experiencing thoughts of suicide. They offer a 24/7 helpline, email support, and face-to-face counselling in some locations.

NHS Crisis Line:

Focus: The NHS crisis line provides urgent mental health support and is available 24/7.

Shout:

Who: Any age

Focus: Shout is a UK-based text messaging support service that provides free, confidential support for individuals in crisis. It aims to help people cope with issues ranging from mental health challenges to emotional distress.

Crisis Text Line (UK):

Focus: Similar to Shout, Crisis Text Line provides free, confidential support via text message for people in crisis.



SEXUAL ASSAULT / ABUSE


Trust House Lancashire:

Focus: Trust House provide specialist support services to women, men and children affected by rape and sexual abuse.

HAVOCA (Help for Adult Victims of Child Abuse):

Focus: HAVOCA is a UK-based charity that provides support, resources, and information for adult survivors of childhood abuse. They offer online forums, articles, and helpline services.

ADDICTIONS / SUBSTANCES


Inspire:

Focus: Inspire provides all aspects of drug and alcohol treatment, including open access to their services, structured treatment and referral to tier 4 rehabilitation.

FRANK:

Focus: FRANK provides information and support regarding drugs and substance abuse and honest information about drugs.

Drinkline:

Focus: Drinkline runs a free, confidential helpline. They offer free, confidential, accurate and consistent information and advice to callers who are concerned about their own or someone else's drinking regardless of the caller's age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity or spirituality.

Focus: Beat supports individuals dealing with eating disorders, providing helplines and online resources including ARFID.

Broken Rainbow:

Focus: Broken Rainbow is a UK charity that provides support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT+) individuals experiencing domestic violence or abuse.
